Are You An Old Person? Here’s A Test

In today’s world it can sometimes be hard to tell when exactly you have stopped being a “young adult” and instead have crossed over into geezer territory. Print and TV media constantly bombards us with “40 is the new 30” and cute names for our age groups like “generation X” or “millennials”. This can cause confusion for some people, which can lead to disastrous consequences (like showing up at a concert where you are the oldest person in the room by at least a decade). With that in mind, I have developed this simple test to figure out if you are too old to participate in whatever is going on in popular culture.

Step 1: Do you enjoy music like this when it first came out? If “yes” then proceed to Step 2.

Step 2: Does the bassist from that band now look like this and is he appearing on TV to talk about politics:

Yes that is Krist Novoselic talking about campaign finance reform.

Step 3: If your answer to Step 2 was “yes”, then you are old. Please stop trying to claim otherwise.
